For the month of March, the focus turns to National Nutrition Month®, an annual campaign created by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to showcase the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits. The theme for 2017 is "Put Your Best Fork Forward," which acts as a reminder that each bite counts. The 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans suggest starting with small changes in order to make healthier lasting changes you can enjoy. Throughout the segments, listeners can learn more about the benefits of home-cooked meals, gut health, children's nutritional health and the story of a man who willed himself to lose more than 70lbs with healthier lifestyle choices. The full list of guests for the February Healthier Michigan Radio show includes:
  • Dr. Jann Caison-Sorey, associate medical director at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
  • Grace Derocha, registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan
  • Adam Carlson, father, husband and self-taught marathoner
