For five Detroit area kids, their answers to the question, “how would you hit a homerun for health?” earned them tickets to Kids Opening Day at Comerica Park, and a chance to participate in some on-field exercises before the game. BCBSM, in partnership with the Michigan Chronicle, held an essay contest as a way to encourage more children and young adults to take charge of their own health. The essay winners had a few common themes, including practicing good hygiene, working to get more fruits and vegetables into their diets and staying active. A full list of the winners, and their winning essays, can be found here.
