Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has been a leader in quality health care for 80 years. We provide our members with superior coverage that’s both affordable and easily accessible. As a brand, we are continuing to raise the industry standard in Michigan and beyond. And for the second consecutive year, our quality ratings with the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) land Blue Cross and Blue Care Network in the top spots of the state’s commercial insurance plans. Like Blue Cross, NCQA is committed to improving treatment quality and positive outcomes. They monitor providers and practices, offering a measure of accountability that ensures patients receive the best care possible. Every year, the NCQA presents a summary report consisting of more than 1,000 health insurance plans. They’re each assigned specific ratings based on member satisfaction, clinical quality and accreditation survey results. On a scale of zero to 5, Blue Cross earned a 4.0 and BCN earned a 4.5, noting a higher level of overall performance. For individual categories such as Customer Satisfaction, Blue Cross experienced a notable increase from 3.5 in 2018 to 4.0 in 2019. Meanwhile, BCN made significant progress in Prevention, moving from 3.5 to an impressive 4.5. The NCQA is an organization dedicated to upholding transparency and ethics within health care. The purpose of their report is to provide information to better help consumers navigate the open enrollment process. From Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, 2019, individuals will have the opportunity to buy a new health plan or change their existing one. Coverage purchased during this period will take effect Jan. 1, 2020. The NCQA ratings are a clear indication of Blue Cross’ growth. We are constantly seeking ways to better serve our members and improve their experience. That means listening to their concerns and addressing them accordingly. Blue Cross will continue to evolve, implementing change that is beneficial for all.
