Nearly 10,000 young entrepreneurs from 70 countries will be arriving to our hometown this weekend as Forbes brings its Under 30 Summit to Detroit for the first time. The three-day conference, presented by Rocket Mortgage, will bring together some of the brightest young minds to collaborate, network, recruit and exchange ideas. It will also offer numerous opportunities for young, talented individuals to pitch their ideas to venture capitalists and talk about issues that are important to millennials. Tennis superstar Serena Williams, AOL CEO Steve Case, actress and Detroit Blows co-founder Sophia Bush, Quicken Loans CEO Jay Farner, Detroit Pistons star Blake Griffin and many others will address the audience. But the biggest star of the event will likely be the City of Detroit, itself. The resurgence of investment in our hometown and its emergence as a talent center will be receiving worldwide attention as a result of the Under 30 Summit. Since 2006, more than $13 billion has been invested in Detroit across 200 projects. As a company that has been based in Detroit for 80 years and that strongly supports investing in Michigan’s core cities and communities, we can’t agree more. The selection of Detroit as the Under 30 Summit site is truly a testament to how our city is catching the attention of leaders and organizations across the U.S., especially as Forbes has committed to host the Under 30 Summit in Detroit through 2022. In addition, Southeast Michigan has been identified as one of the nation’s tech hubs, and we hope conference attendees will get a taste of why our region is one to consider for their next career opportunity. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is proud to be one of Michigan’s largest IT employers, and we’re actively recruiting top information technology and data science professionals to join our award-winning culture. We’re pleased to also be invested in this important event. We’ll be sharing the new and innovative ways we’re working to serve millennials and all our members, especially through digital innovations. It is also a great opportunity to talk about millennial well-being, an issue that Blue plans across the nation are studying so that we can identify key drivers of health conditions impacting Millennials and ways to improve their health. And it’s an opportunity to exchange ideas on how to connect them with the care they need. We look forward to this important conversation and to spotlighting Detroit and Michigan to the world.
