#PowerofBlue :: Bowling for Kids’ Sake

Did you know that Michigan has more than 300 bowling alleys across the state? With origins dating back as far as 3200 B.C., bowling has become a favorite pastime for children across the nation. Big Brothers Big Sisters, a community partner of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, organizes its biggest annual fundraiser around this sport. Designed to generate awareness and support for children and their families in the local community, “Bowl for Kids’ Sake” also aims to raise funds in a fun and engaging way. Teams are formed throughout the organization, and events take place in various cities across the state including: Grand Rapids, Howell and Marquette, among others. While the main goal, of course, is to raise money for BBBS, the event has created an exciting, internal competition. Last year employees raised $108,000 through the activation. We took a moment to talk with Suzanne Miller Allen, Director of Community Responsibility, who shared information about BCBSM’s community involvement, and the importance of Big Brothers Big Sisters as a partner to our brand and our employees.
