The 25th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive will take place Saturday, May 13, and Blue Cross employees across Michigan are once again joining in the effort to collect non-perishable food items for local families in need.
To join Blue Cross in supporting the Stamp Out Hunger food drive, simply place a bag of non-perishable food items by your mailbox on the morning of Saturday, May 13, 2017.
Items collected by Blue Cross employees from May 1 to May 13 will be distributed to local Michigan agencies including:
- Food Gatherers in Ann Arbor
- Feeding America in Grand Rapids
- The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan
- The Greater Lansing Food Bank
- Gleaner's Community Food Bank
- Northwest Michigan Food Coalition
- Loaves and Fishes and Portage Outreach Community Center
- Holland Rescue Mission
Touted as the largest single-day food drive in America, the NALC reports last year's efforts brought in more than 80 million pounds of food for local agencies across the nation, including over 2.7 million pounds in Michigan alone. In addition to providing critical food resources, the event raises awareness of hunger and food insecurity across America and here in Michigan.
Organizers are encouraging the public to share photos and updates about their support of the food drive using #StampOutHunger on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Blue Cross' support of the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is in partnership with the BCBSM Community Responsibility, Federal Employee Program team, Blue Care Network Community Outreach and UAW/Joint Programs, in support of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
